Ant International expands its agentic payment protocol with Visa and Mastercard
Ant International said on September 11 that its Agentic Mobile Protocol has moved into its first deployment phase, with ten digital wallets and seven acquiring partners integrating the framework across the Alipay+ network, according to a statement issued from Shanghai and Singapore. AMP, first launched in April, is designed to let AI agents complete payments across mobile wallets, superapps and other interfaces without requiring a user to switch applications.
The ten participating wallets together serve about 1.5 billion user accounts, according to the announcement. They are Alipay in China, AlipayHK in Hong Kong, DANA in Indonesia, GCash in the Philippines, KakaoPay and Toss in South Korea, MPay in Macao, TNG eWallet in Malaysia, TrueMoney in Thailand, and Starryblu in Singapore. Seven acquiring partners are also integrating the protocol: Adyen, Allinpay, Checkout.com, Fiserv, Global Payments, Nuvei and Worldline.
Separately, Ant International said it has begun collaborating with Mastercard and Visa on a Know-Your-Agent interoperability framework intended to help card networks, wallet ecosystems and agent platforms share a common approach to identifying and onboarding AI agents while each network keeps its own verification and decision-making in place.
“Agentic commerce is a channel expansion, similar to how mobile was, and to date it’s been largely card-based,” said Brian Sze, general manager for Asia Pacific at Checkout.com, in the announcement. “AMP extends this to the wallets where billions of consumers already transact, across many more markets.” Karan Katyal, Adyen’s global head of agentic commerce, said the promise of agentic commerce depends on open, interoperable systems that let trusted agents move across networks.
Ant International said the protocol cuts the number of steps needed to link a payment agent to a wallet by half compared with earlier integration methods. The company’s Alipay+ network connects more than 50 mobile payment partners and over ten national QR code schemes, and it separately joined Google’s Agent Payments Protocol as a launch partner in September 2025.
