dLocal enables local-currency card payments for LinkedIn in four Latin American markets

dLocal said on October 1 that it will provide local-currency card payments for LinkedIn members in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile, according to a company release issued from Montevideo. Members in the four countries can now pay by card in local currency, with dLocal supplying the underlying payment infrastructure, according to The Paypers. The Uruguay-based company trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker DLO.

dLocal said currency mismatches, unfamiliar checkout steps and declined payments often stand between a user and a completed transaction for global platforms in Latin America. Operating across several markets also means handling currency rules, local acquiring relationships and compliance requirements in each jurisdiction, the company said. LinkedIn said payment experiences in the region, as in its other markets, should feel local rather than imported, according to The Paypers.

Companies connect to dLocal through what it calls “One dLocal”, a single API, platform and contract for accepting payments, sending payouts and settling funds without managing separate local entities or integrations. The company says its platform operates in about 29 countries and connects merchants with more than 600 local payment methods.

The announcement follows a partnership dLocal made in late July with ACI Worldwide that gives merchants on ACI’s payments orchestration platform access to local payment methods in Brazil and Mexico, among them Pix, PicPay, Mercado Pago and OXXO. Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru are planned as later markets under that arrangement, according to ACI’s press release.
