Pay.UK adds Monzo, Equals and Bank of Ireland executives to board
Pay.UK, the operator and standards body for the United Kingdom’s interbank retail payment systems, has appointed three industry non-executive directors to its board, the organization said in an announcement published on July 16 and carried by Finextra. The appointments of Alison Berryman, Matthijs Boon and Pranay Ahluwalia took effect on July 1, according to FinTech Futures.
Berryman is chief operating officer of Bank of Ireland UK, a role she has held since June 2023, after more than a decade in leadership positions at Barclays. Boon is chief partnerships officer at the money movement platform Equals, which he joined in 2019 following almost 15 years at the foreign exchange company Travelex. Ahluwalia is general manager for payments at Monzo Bank, where he leads work on payment rails, merchant acquiring and next-generation payment products.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the Pay.UK Board,” Boon said in the announcement.
The appointments complete a governance change Pay.UK set in motion in March, when it updated its Articles of Association to add three board seats for industry executives. The board now numbers 14 directors, comprising chair Mark Hoban, chief executive David Pitt, and equal numbers of industry and independent non-executive directors, FinTech Futures reported. Pay.UK said the structure supports its new remit following changes announced by the Payments Vision Delivery Committee at Mansion House in 2025.
