Natural raises $30 million to build payment rails for AI agents

Natural, a San Francisco startup building payments infrastructure for artificial intelligence agents, has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by Kirsten Green at Forerunner, the company said in a release dated July 20. The financing brings the company’s total funding to more than $40 million and was raised when the firm was 193 days old, according to the release.

Six of a planned 13 products entered general availability alongside the announcement: Wallets, which the company describes as FDIC-insured wallets for agents; Vaults, one-way accounts that agents can pay into but not out of; and Pay, Request, Transfer and Connect, which cover sending, collecting and moving funds and building marketplaces on the platform. Voice, Accept and Cards are due in the coming months, and the company plans four further products in the fourth quarter covering per-call billing, agent credit lines, direct access to specific payment rails and success-based billing, PYMNTS reported.

“We made a bet on agentic payments a year ago,” co-founder and chief executive Kahlil Lalji said in the release, adding that the company set out to own the entire stack rather than assemble it from third parties.

Underneath the product names, Natural says it builds its core plumbing directly, including ledgering, money movement, multi-bank settlement, multi-currency support, fraud and compliance controls, and agent identity. The company was founded in 2025 by Lalji, Eric Wang and Walt Leung, employs about 17 people and plans to expand its engineering and product teams with the new capital, according to citybiz. Backers in the round include founders and executives from Notion, Increase, Browserbase, HappyRobot and Privy.

A seed round of $9.8 million preceded the Series A, announced in September 2025, PYMNTS reported at the time.
